Department of Zoology
Zoology is one of the Major subjects for three years degree course. It is aimed to provide the necessary inputs to bring in strong conceptual understanding and practical skill with the new and innovative ideas in the minds of students. The college started with facilities of Arts & Commerce and the faculty of Science was added in the year 1974. In the year 1988, P.G. classes were also started in Zoology. The Zoology Department has an accommodation of 11×33 feet, and has acquired today a sufficient working place. It has two P.G labs, each with seating capacity of 50 students and a U.G lab with the seating capacity of 60 students. A Museum room, Equipment room, Research room, separate room for Departmental staff and other accommodation exist in the Department. It is also in tune with the changing scenario and incorporative advancements, multidisciplinary skills, self-supportive and various methods of innovative learning i.e. by PowerPoint presenting, through models and revive by the Board of studies in order to keep pace with the new and rapid advancements in the subject and its use in real life. The department has a rich library for P.G students. It has more than 1250 books mostly the latest books maintained by the departmental staff. Reputed journals and latest magazines are also the part of learning resources. At the U.G. level all the necessary equipment and facilities are available to the students. for the P. G. students, sophisticated equipment like spectrophotometer, Phase contrast, Binocular, Trinocular Microscope, Digital display Microtomes ,Muffle furnace, Soxhlet extraction Apparatus are the part of equipment list . Department also equipped with hi-tech internet facilities

Extracurricular Activities
Zoological Society of the Department Organises extracurricular activities, it also motivates and encourage every student to Participate in various events and also announces token of appreciation. Every year the Zoological Society conducts various competitions like, Quiz Debate, Slogan, Rangoli, Drawing, Craft, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, festivals and Birthday celebrations etc.
Educational Tour
Every year the Department organises the educational trip for the Students of Post Graduate in various fish farms of Chhattisgarh to enhance their knowledge in studying Various fish farms, types of Ponds, Induced breeding, Management, Marketing and Transport of fishes.
Guest Lecture
Every year the Department invite the eminent speakers to enrich the students’ knowledge in different fields like, Immunology, Animal Physiology, Taxonomy, Fisheries, Statistics, Environment and Ecology.
Group Discussion
Students are encouraged to participate in the group discussion in the activities related to Environment protection, Health awareness, Green Environment, protection and conservation of environment etc.
Tutorial and Remedial Classes
Slow learner students were guided by the teachers of the department by taking extra classes, giving notes, explaining through different models etc.
Projects And Seminars
Projects are done by the students of Post Graduate in various fields of their concrete related to their syllabus. It is an organized effort of students, which are motivated by learned teachers of the Department. In each Semester students have to give minimum of two PowerPoint presentation of the topics related to their syllabus which is guided by the teachers.
Research Activities
The department of Zoology has received grants from CCOST, Students are also guided for preparation of Projects for different funding agencies like- CCost, UGC, DST, State planning Commission etc. Students are guided for perusing Ph.D., after completion of their post-Graduation. At present students are enrolled for their Ph.D’s in Zoology Department.
