Department of Biotechnology

The Biotechnology teaching programme was initiated by a combined effort of UGC and Department of Biotechnology in 2006. Biotechnology has achieved the rare feat of combining all living organism plants, animals and micro-organism, into a single gene pool. This has made biotechnology indispensable in such diverse fields as agriculture, industry, medicine and environmental.

Department of Biotechnology focuses on understanding humans as a biological and a cultural being, through cross- culture perspective. The school of biotechnology under faculty of life science offers an undergraduate, a post graduate and research degree in Biotechnology. The biotechnology is a challenging and demanding course, which requires above average intellectual and dedicated inputs, both by the students and the teachers. The course contents of our department highly specialized and require very clear and fundamental inputs from basic and advanced biology, applied biology and technology.

The department of biotechnology has been teaching undergraduate, post graduate and research works which encompass various basic and applied aspects of modern biotechnology. The course contents of our department highly specialized and require very clear and fundamental inputs from basic and advanced biology, applied biology and technology. The Department of Biotechnology has well developed facility for Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Plant Tissue culture and Bioinformatics. The Instruments available include PCR Thermal Cycler, ELISA Reader, Electrophoresis, UV Spectrophotometer, BOD Incubator and Microscope etc. Department library have fulfilled with Foreign authors and Indian authors books, total numbers of books in our department are 395 books and 23 Journals. The faculty of the department publishes research papers in national and international journals on regular basis.
